The 2024/25 season has ended for all major European Leagues with the three UEFA club competitions reaching a conclusion in May. It was another thrilling campaign across the top five leagues with Liverpool equalling Manchester United’s record of 20 top-flight titles in England, Barcelona toppling Real Madrid in LaLiga, Napoli sparked incredible celebrations in Serie A, Bayern Munich returned to top spot in the Bundesliga and PSG’s Ligue 1 dominance continued.
Many leagues are still halfway through their seasons, especially in South America while MLS remains ongoing. Tens of millions of supporters have swarmed into grounds across the world during the 2024/25 campaign to watch their heroes in the flesh. The price of football has never been higher and match-going fans remain the most important people in football due to their unwavering commitment. Using Transfermarkt’s exclusive data, we’ve analysed which clubs around the world boasted the highest average attendance across the 2024/25 season.
The highest average attendances across 2024/25 season
An average of 84,782 supporters packed into the Mâs Monumental Stadium during River Plate’s Torneo Apertura season in 2025, meaning they have the highest average attendance in the world across the widely recognised 2024/25 campaign. The Argentinian top-flight runs across 2025 and River Plate are just half way through their season with just eight games at home but the incredible support of the Buenos Aires fans is unparalleled. Two Bundesliga clubs complete the top three with Borussia Dortmund second (81,355) and Bayern Munich third (75,000).
As the graphic above illustrates, Manchester United (73,815) are the top English club with Real Madrid (72,692) possessing the biggest average attendance in Spain. Three Italian clubs feature in the top ten – AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma – with Marseille the only representative from France. Interestingly, Celtic feature in 16th with Flamengo the only other non-European club in the top twenty, outside of River Plate. Barcelona only sit in 34th place due to playing at the Olympic Stadium as the Nou Camp undergoes redevelopment but the Catalan giants will likely take top spot when the near 100,000 stadium is completed.
