Rebecca Tanui wins Mersin Marathon

Kenya’s Rebecca Tanui lived to the race expectations as she ran away with the women title at the 10th edition of the Mersin Marathon held on Sunday (14) in Mersin, Turkey.
The 33 year-old passed half way in 72:30 and was closely followed by Genet Robi of Ethiopia who played a rabbit for some more time, but around the 30k mark, the Kenyan pulled away and took control of the remaining 12km, cutting the tape first in 2:25.35 and was followed in second by Robi in 2:26.07 with her compatriot Peninah Jerop sealing the podium in 2:30.52.
Kenya;s Millicent Kibet and Letebrhan Gebreslasea of Ehiopia came home in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 2:31.05 and 2:35.35.
