Jemila Wortesa banned for three years by AIU

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has banned Jemila Wortesa of Ethiopia for 3 years for Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (EPO), which is a violation of the World Anti-doping Agency.

The 39 year-old who won Guiyang Marathon in China with a time of 2:36.22, provided a urine Sample In-Competition at this event which returned an Adverse Analytical Finding in the Sample based on the presence of Erythropoietin (“EPO”) (the “Adverse Analytical Finding”).

Wortesa was slapped with four years but because she accepted that she had committed the offence the charge was reduced to three years.
