Europe’s two most in-form teams meet at the Emirates in the Champions League this Wednesday. Arsenal are still yet to concede a single goal in the competition this season, winning all four of their opening games, but face their toughest test yet. They welcome German giants Bayern Munich, who also boast a 100% win record in the Champions League this season, scoring 14 goals in the process.

Down the years, the Bavarians have proved to be daunting opponents for the Gunners. In the 2016/17 season, they beat Arsenal 10-2 on aggregate, whilst also knocking Mikel Arteta’s team out in the quarter-finals two years ago. Both side’s have had many superstars across the decades, but ahead of the club’s latest clash, but who makes the all-time most valuable Arsenal and Bayern Munich combined XI?

Arsenal & Bayern Munich all-time most valuable XI

In between the sticks is legendary Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Although he now has a market value of just €4 million at 39 years of age, back in 2015, he had a career high value of €45m. At left-back is Canadian Alphonso Davies, who was worth €80m back in 2020. Arsenal’s first inclusion is centre-back William Saliba, who has a current market value of €80m. He is joined at centre-half by now Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt, who was worth €75m when at Bayern in 2023. At right-back is another potential shock in Portuguese defender João Cancelo, who had a €70m market value when on loan at Bayern in 2023.

Arsenal dominate central-midfield, with Declan Rice currently worth €120m, and the Gunner’s club captain Martin Ødegaard worth €110m in 2024. Just in front of that pair is Bayern’s Jamal Musiala, who has a current market value of €140m. On the right-wing is the most valuable star in the XI in Bukayo Saka, who had a €150m market value last year (it has since dropped to €140m). On the left-wing is Bayern’s Michael Olise, who received a +€30m upgrade in the latest Bundesliga update to take his market value to €130m. Former Tottenham striker Harry Kane leads the line, boasting a €110m market value in his first season at Bayern. The entire XI is worth over €1 billion.
