Abel Sikowo defends his Singapore Marathon title

Uganda’s hero Abel Boniface Sikowo stormed to victory as he defended his title in the men’s race at the 38th edition of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon held on Sunday (07) in Singapore.
The 26 year-old who has participated in two World Championships and specializing in water and barrier aces, endured the tormenting extreme weather patterns to improve on his time from last year, when he took the honors in his second fastest career time of 2:15.40.
Sikowo who holds a lifetime best of 2:12.46 that he got this year at the Stockholm Marathon, where he finished in fourth place, was followed in second place by Kenyan Mathew Samperu, who was poised as the race favorite as he came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 2:07.25 that he got early this year at the Zurich Maratón, where he finished in tenth place. Samperu finished second in 2:15.46 with his compatriot Wisley Kimeli wrapping up the podium in 2:15.53.
